Compared to the last two, this one will sound a bit lame, but I tell it to show another facet of God's care for me. This took place during the same time period before I met Jim. I was pretty much broke after paying my tuition and buying all the books, even with free room and board and an occasional mystery gift. I was cleaning the library and scrubbing toilets on campus for minimum wage just to keep gas in my car.
Some friends from church invited me to go to a Texas Rangers game with them. Baseball is not my thing, and it seemed like a lot of money, but the socialite in me couldn't resist a night on the town for a change. God used that evening to show me how he would provide not only for my needs but even for my desires.
Standing in line at the stadium, a random stranger in front of me realized he "just happened" to have an extra ticket and turned around and gave me the spare. That was a thrilling moment. To make sure I got the point, God allowed yet another crazy provision that same day.
During the game I decided to buy a snack since I had extra money in my pocket. When the guy came around yelling, "Peanuts! Get your peanuts here!" He tossed them to each of the people with arms waving, but when he collected everyone's money, he skipped me. Not wanting to cheat the man, I pointed out his mistake and tried to give him my money. He insisted I had already paid. I tried to argue, but it was no use. "I guess they're on the house!" he said as he walked to the next section.
The singles from church who were with me acted jealous of the VIP treatment I was getting. For a while this kind of situation became the norm. What a fun walk with the Lord on the other side of a crisis.
How can I ever doubt God's provision in my life?
"The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him..." Nahum 1:7

I'm loving this series Jamie Jo. Wonderful, uplifting, well written, captivating and above all faith building stories.
I love these stories!!! They are so encouraging. God's provision is so amazing. I remember several times when we were on the field that God provided in such unexpected ways. He still does of course but it was really special when we were in Oaxaca. Oh and I don't know how you can subscribe to our blog...sorry, I am pretty computer illiterate.
