Halloween, Mexico-style

After all these years, this is the first year we have had actual trick-or-treaters come to our house accompanied by their parents.  In earlier years, young people would take turns wearing the same mask and coming by to see what the gringos would give them.

Day of the Dead is a huge holiday, but Halloween, I'm afraid, has been imported from the U.S. more recently.  I'm not a big fan of all the creepy masks and costumes, but I love any excuse for neighbors to come for a visit.  They honestly did not know what to expect, and asked me to teach them the phrase "Trick or Trick" so they could visit other gringos about town.  Pretty cute.

You should have seen how many arms they tried to squeeze into my candy jar at the same time.  They had no treat bags, but just ate whatever they got on the spot.
