Do I dare tell one more police story about Mike? Actually this one I read about on his Facebook, so if he wanted to keep it secret, he certainly chose a wacky way of doing so. This is absolutely incredible. Apparently my son has inherited my knack for getting himself in embarrassing situations.
It seems he got pulled over by the police for throwing a booger out the window on a freeway. Yes, this was his actual facebook status over the weekend. Am I a proud mother or what?
After a bunch of people commented on his interesting status, he added, "I used to think that all the random funny things that happened to me were coincidental. Now I'm starting to think that I found favor with the god of humorous irony. I did not get a ticket, but the officer (along with the whole LA county CHP, I'm sure) had a good laugh. Technically throwing a booger out the window is littering, but I asked him what else I could do with it, and he didn't have any good answers."
What can I say? You home educate them, you try to civilize them, you do your very best, and then... it's completely out of your control. After twenty years they still revert to their childhood habits. Aargh!
Anyone care to venture a guess as to what this "child" will find in his Christmas stocking this year? Hint: it's softer than coal and more useful.

See, this is NOT an encouraging story. The end should read, "You homeschool them, educate them, civilize them, and they become exactly the wonderful law-abiding upstanding citizens you always dreamed of."
Wouldn't that be nice??? Or am I asking too much....?
...sigh....
As for his stocking, I'm going with tissues. Maybe if I start now with that we can avoid freeway booger flicking in our future, ya think???
Sorry, Heather. You know I always planned to be the encouraging type, telling people just how to raise their kids to guarantee results, but somehow my children keep foiling my plans. You gotta love 'em, just like they are. Yours would NEVER do a thing like this, I'm sure.
