Bed's all perfectly made... impressed?
The November-December online issue of the Women of the Harvest (WOTH) Magazine features another article I submitted. Twice in a row they published my "embarrassing moment" stories. This one is a reprint of the story you may have already read on my blog, titled First Impressions (Pride, part 3)

Today I thought I would share with you the response of one reader:

I found it so interesting...and have thought about this several times since I read your article yesterday...how you wrote about trying to have your home all cleaned, food ready in order to "endear" your visitors to you and your family...or something along those lines. Isn't it interesting that the very things we think will draw people to us (clean house, total organization) sometimes actually tend to build walls? And the very things we think will disgust and repel people (messy home, no wonderful dinner ready) can actually endear them to us even more as they see our humility, our humanness?

Why does it go so against our grain to let others see our weaknesses? Pride. I hate it, but it's as close as my skin. Thanks be to our Father who loves us too much to leave us to ourselves!

I couldn't have said it better myself. Tomorrow I will share some other thoughts this triggered. I need to think it through more carefully first.

Meanwhile, speaking of responses, I want to put in a plug for reading the comments after my blog posts. Apparently my son Tim hadn't read my blog for a while, and last night he added quite a few hilarious editorial remarks and background information to some of my stories. He's a hilarious writer. I think you'll enjoy his perspective of the same situations I described.

If I would ever err and paint too rosy a picture of our family, I've got lots of kids to set me straight. Just keeping me honest....
