This is an unforgettable quote by Mikey when he was three years old, still struggling with his speech. I say unforgettable, but the truth is I hadn't remembered it until I just read it in an old notepad I found. (I got sidetracked while cleaning out a bookcase that needs to be moved before the tile can be laid in my bedroom this week.)
I'm sure he didn't say "merrily" but I couldn't figure out how to transcribe it phonetically at the time.Woe, woe, woe the boat
Gently down the scream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Wife is not a joke
Ah, Mikey. He was one of my very cutest 3-year-olds for sure. Wouldn't you agree?
This makes me think of a devotional book I once bought called Screams in the Desert: Hope and Humor for Women in Cross-Cultural Ministry. I like the traditional book Streams in the Desert, but the newer one, written by a fellow missionary, sounded more appropriate. That's one of many books I wish I had thought to write first.
Back to work now.... (And I wonder why my children are so ADD-ish!)
