For those that don't "follow" my other blog, I will cross-reference it here again. Introspective Mini-Funk, otherwise known as "Time Flies."
In it, I was complaining how fast the month of December would go, but here I am home sick with a runny nose and sore throat on a Saturday that had promised to be very full. So much for going to the missionary ladies' Christmas brunch. This is the first one I've missed in many years. How sad.
On the other hand, I suddenly found a quiet day at home to rest, which probably I needed even more. Earlier in the week the girls and I baked gingerbread men and candy cane cookies. Today I made dough for ginger snaps which is chilling in the fridge. The house is already decorated and we are getting in the mood for the holidays.
A week from today Hannah will be here, and a week after that, Mike arrives. Even though I was complaining in my other blog about the rest of the family not coming down for Christmas, I really am thankful for the two who are coming. We are dreaming of ways to make this year extra special. If we can figure out how to swing the finances, we may sneak away for a few days of actual vacation between Christmas and New Year's. The kids really should see more of Mexico, especially the three who were born here and are card-carrying Mexican citizens (dual citizenship).
The choices are either Chiapas or Mexico City at this point. Maybe I'll spend this lazy sick day on the computer being a virtual tourist, pricing the different options. Anyone have other suggestions? Maybe we could just do a stay-cation and just find things to do close by that we've never done.
