Love it! This is especially familiar as I remember what I was like 10 years ago when I left Mexico for college! Oh and even though we have been gone from Oaxaca for over a year now I still catch myself thinking "oh no, I just got dirty sink water on these cups, or this food..."
Ah, yes. Do you feel compelled to throw the dirty sink water out on your garden to recycle it?
I love it!
Especially about public bathrooms...our little girls thought they had died and gone to bathroom heaven when we got off the plane in Guam on our first furlough. The bathroom actually SMELLED GOOD, there was toilet paper...automatic flush, automatic hand dryers..it was CLEAN!!
But my favorite is our friend's kids, who, the first time they saw carpet, got down and rolled around on it!!
Ah, yes, the bathrooms. Today I went to a lady's tea at a swanky house that actually had toilets that accepted TP. Felt like we were in the states!
Oh, wow, I lived in Mexico for 5 years when I was a teenager with my parents as missionaries, and wow, so many of these just really hit home, one of the ones I liked was about not looking stangers in the eye, because it would be like a come-on. That is so true. Oh, yeah, did y'all ever have guys "chiflando" at y'all while walking down a street! You are a really good writer. This blog is so much fun to read. Blessings!
